چکیده

Abstract A novel in-plane bending test was used to study edge ductility in DP800 as a common advanced high-strength steel the car industry. The utilized digital image correlation technique measure local and average fracture strain values along of specimen. In contrast widely hole expansion capacity test, impact punch friction, contact stress, out-of-plane on is eliminated by removing punch. Also, gradient inherent beam provides controlled crack propagation path, making tracking easier than sheared tensile test. proposed investigate influence material orientation, cutting parameters, global strain. observed between ductility, tool sharpness, while independent gradient. outcome shows that reliable for determining any desired orientation.

Additively manufactured hierarchical stainless steels with high strength and ductility.

Many traditional approaches for strengthening steels typically come at the expense of useful ductility, a dilemma known as strength-ductility trade-off. New metallurgical processing might offer the possibility of overcoming this. Here we report that austenitic 316L stainless steels additively manufactured via a laser powder-bed-fusion technique exhibit a combination of yield strength and tensil...

High-Strength Bainitic Steels

With careful design, mixed microstructures consisting of fine plates of upper bainitic ferrite separated by thin films of stable retained austenite have exhibited impressive combinations of strength and toughness in highsilicon bainitic steels. The silicon suppresses the precipitation of brittle cementite leading to an improvement in toughness. The essential principles governing the optimisatio...

Dislocation Strengthening without Ductility Trade-off in Metastable Austenitic Steels

Strength and ductility are mutually exclusive if they are manifested as consequence of the coupling between strengthening and toughening mechanisms. One notable example is dislocation strengthening in metals, which invariably leads to reduced ductility. However, this trend is averted in metastable austenitic steels. A one-step thermal mechanical treatment (TMT), i.e. hot rolling, can effectivel...

Niobium Alloyed High Strength Steels for Automotive Applications

Modern vehicle bodies make intensive use of high strength steel grades to meet the contradicting demand of lighter weight and simultaneously better mechanical performance. For many steel grades microalloying by niobium is the key to achieve their characteristic property profile. In HSLA steels niobium enhances the strength primarily by grain refinement. In interstitial free high strength steels...
